Visit Bodrum!

Homer described Bodrum as ‘The land of eternal blue’. Did you heard Halicarnassus? It is how Bodrum called in ancient times and nowadays the South Aegean’s most popular party town. From its position between the two harbours, the 15th-century crusader Castle of St Peter dominates every part of the town, now home to the fascinating Museum of Underwater Archaeology. The other attraction in town is the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the crumbling remains of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Bodrum is a fascinating place as it has a pleasing contrast between the Ancient city – where there are discernable fragments everywhere in the town, and a playground for rich Turks and an array of foreign visitors. It is one of the centres of the Turkish Tourist industry and is the market town for the Bodrum Peninsula which consists of a number of towns and villages nestling on the edge of the Coast. There are numerous ways to get out of town and explore the enchanting villages, bays and historic sites in the area. Either hire a jeep, car, motor-bike, or bicycle; take a boat trip; book an organised excursion; or simply hop on a minibus.

Nightlife in Bodrum is frenetic and varied, offering not only western-style decadent clubs and discos, but also the chance to partying at one of the bars where the crowd joins in with the local artiste, singing, dancing, eating and drinking. For clubbers the main place to be is Halikarnas, one of the biggest and swankiest open-air clubs in the world. There are plenty of other clubs too, even one on a catamaran that sets sail late at night and takes the party out to sea until the dawn.
